Postponing the evil day

I WAS astonished to hear Taoiseach Brian Cowen say we are borrowing a staggering €70 million per day to fund our bloated public services and in the next breath explain that the Government would not even debate savings recommended by An Bord Snip Nua until next October.

Postponing the evil day

This inexplicable delay clearly shows, in my view, a pathological cowardice to face down the public service and their powerful unions and/or a criminal abdication of his responsibility to govern.
