The British view

I WISH to salute the Irish people who very sensibly rejected the Lisbon Treaty last year.

I’m ashamed other Europeans, the EU federalists, should have been so dissatisfied with that sensible vote they are now prepared to test the intelligence of the Irish people by telling them to vote again on an exact replica of the original Lisbon Treaty.

I feel sure Irish voters know they have been deceived and betrayed, but I also feel sure their intelligence will ensure the same result.
