Reality check for RTÉ

I WAS horrified to read (July 4) that RTÉ is looking for a licence fee hike while most of its top brass seem unwilling to take a pay cut.

I think this is a disgrace. It’s high time companies (particularly in the public sector) took tough measures against these people.

They should be told it’s a 20% pay cut or you lose your job – simple as that. We all know the public pay bill must be reduced, but for some reason those on top salaries are not willing to sacrifice anything. It’s time to crack the whip.
