RECENTLY we have heard Government ministers and other politicians talking about “winning” and “losing” a referendum.

If the Government want to play dirty, then referendum voters should do so as well

This is absolute nonsense – a referendum, by definition, is a proposal put to the people which the electorate decide to accept or reject – it is neither won nor lost.

The Lisbon Treaty was put before the Irish people and they rejected it decisively. What part of No does the Government not understand?
