Small car tax ‘levy’ should be abolished

IT HAS been brought to my attention that the difference between taxing a small car (1124 cc) quarterly and yearly is €34 (€286.00 per year or €80 x 4 per quarter (€320 per year).

As most cars are taxed online, handling charges can no longer be considered a valid excuse. Some people are blaming local authorities for this extra charge but in fact it is the responsibility of the environment minister.

It is extra taxation by the backdoor and should not be imposed on our hard-pressed communities. I believe it should be abolished in respect for all vehicles under 1500 cc.
