Columnist takes the moral high ground

YOUR esteemed columnist Fergus Finlay has taken Fr Vincent Twomey to task over his comments on the recent Ryan report.

Mr Finlay assumes the moral high ground and by implication also uses his attack on Fr Twomey to have a go at Pope Benedict – the bête noir of many in the chattering classes.

One assumes Mr Finlay’s outrage is genuine. Nevertheless, when some years ago the BBC Panorama programme unearthed a horrific saga of child abuse by UN human rights personnel, I don’t recall him being similarly alarmed.
