Sarkozy owes us a fiscal explanation

IN his letter (June 13), James Hogan says we should tell French president Nicolas Sarkozy where to go when he comes here.

Before that, I suggest he be given an opportunity to justify or retract his attack on the Government’s initial plan to help deal with the banking crisis through the deposit guarantee scheme.

Last year, when reporting to the European parliament as president of the council, he said “... the Irish bank guarantee had led to a situation where money was flowing in and out of countries, depending on which offered the best deal”.
