YET again the political parties jumped the gun by putting up posters and car stickers and sending out personal campaign leaflets before being officially nominated.

Surely they knew they could not call themselves candidates before registration? Where is their respect for electoral law? Above all, where is their respect for the electorate?

Dates for registration are well publicised; nominations cannot be registered until then. Up to that time, no one is a “candidate”. This is the law. Politicians should set an example – not take advantage of the “why not, they’re all at it” attitude.
