Eurovision failure - Overhaul the voting system

The Eurovision Song Contest is an annual competition held among member countries of the European Broadcasting Union.

Eurovision failure - Overhaul the voting system

It has enjoyed a massive popularity over the years, with audiences of up to 600 million people.

Sinead Mulvey expressed disappointment at not making it through to tonight’s final in Moscow, but she was positively upbeat about the experience. She professed to have done her best, and that was all anyone could have asked of her and her backing band, Black Daisy.

Ireland has enjoyed an enormous success in winning the song contest on seven occasions. Moreover, it should be remembered that the interlude in the song contest was the launching pad for Riverdance, which owed much of its phenomenal appeal to the early exposure on one of the most widely watched television programmes in the world.

So let’s not forget the part played by the song contest in promoting this country, but it would do no harm to come up with a more transparent judging system.
