WHILE Niall Ginty (Letters, April 24) is uncertain about the level of approval for the 1916 Rising in Dublin, he does not hold back when it comes to throwing out erroneous percentages.

He is correct, however, when he mentions “the stultifying grip of misinformation peddled as fact by teachers and parents”. Most young Irish people emerging from schools and colleges today haven’t a clue who Michael Collins or Maud Gonne were and care even less. And sure, you can always throw more Munster rugby at them to keep them that way.
