Asleep at the wheel - Take a nap

DESPITE the great excitements of the day the swallows have returned and the cherry trees are on the cusp of lifting the heart of everyone who will be lucky enough to see one in full bloom.

This bank holiday weekend many of us we will mark the approach of summer by travelling to visit family or friends in faraway places. Those of us who drive should be aware of the warnings issued yesterday by the Road Safety Authority who pointed out that one-in-10 motorists have admitted that they have fallen asleep at the wheel of their car.

The figure may be even higher as very few of us have not been in that frightening position. As ever we all have a responsibility not to be a danger to ourselves and other road users.
