IT seems that the questions that may be used to define modern Ireland when the next census is taken may actually reflect the reality we see every day.

Same-sex civil partnerships will be recognised for the first time in the 168-year history of the census if proposed changes to the questions asked are adopted.

There may also be new questions on the languages spoken in each household, surely a reflection of the great number of immigrants who have made their home in this country.
