Time to commit to Gaelscoil movement

THERE are 31 primary-level gaelscoileanna in Dublin. However there are only eight second-level gaelscoileanna, or gaelcholáistí in the county.

Time to commit to Gaelscoil movement

There are campaigns for three new gaelscoileanna in Dublin and one of these is for a gaelcholáiste.

It is time for the Government to increasingly demonstrate their committment to the gaelscoil movement by in particular giving recognition to the campaigns for gaelcholáistí.

In Dublin 15 where I live there is a campaign for the second gaelscoil in the area and with a gaelscoil in Dunboyne also the chances are that Dublin 15 will eventually have a gaelcholáiste also in future years providing the current campaign gets recognition.

Fine Gael and Labour are in favour of auditing the money spent promoting Irish. Surely the millions spent on the largely ineffective organisations whose sole job it is to promote Irish could be redirected to setting up new all-Irish language schools?
