National strike - Taoiseach must talk

The exploits of the Irish rugby team were a reminder of the importance of teamwork, not just in sport, but also in any walk of life that requires co-operation.

Labour Party leader Eamon Gilmore argued yesterday that the Taoiseach should talk to the trade unions in an attempt to avert the national strike planned for this day next week. There is widespread recognition throughout society that difficult decisions must be faced.
