Experts spell out case against UCC research

AT a recent seminar organised by Youth Defence we were treated to a superb address by two experts on stem cell research, Dr David Prentice and Dr Wesley Smith. Both men are known and respected worldwide for their expertise on this subject.

Dr Prentice explained in a clear manner the difference between embryonic stem cell research and ethical stem cell research. Your readers might be surprised to learn it is only adult stem cell research that is providing successful treatments for more than 70 different illnesses to date, including spinal cord injuries and cancers.

Why then is UCC embarking on research on embryonic stem cell lines which destroys human life and offers no cures?

Proponents of destructive embryonic research from UCC were invited to debate this serious matter with the learned lecturers, but they declined. It seems this agenda is being pursued by people in UCC in secret without the knowledge of the taxpayer.

The seminar had a capacity attendance indicating a high level of public interest in the subject.
