YOU report (February 17) Deputy Jim McDaid’s suggestion that the Government should call a general election as “a way of saving the party”.

I’m sure he would be happy to sit on the opposition benches for a few years while he collects his Dáil salary and ministerial pension as he watches other people do the work

A lot of people would consider it was “the party” that was responsible for getting us into this mess to begin with.
