Junket city

THE recession has not prevented Cork city councillors from planning junkets at the taxpayers’ expense.

The city council minutes for last January 12 showed councillors have approved junkets in Antrim, Castlebar, Letterkenny, Killarney, Sligo, Dungarvan and Wicklow.

What the minutes don’t show is how the citizens of Cork will benefit from these outings.

But benefiting the people of Cork is not the point of junkets, is it?
