Constitution allows for major cuts in Dáil club
This document demands a maximum of one TD for every 20,000 population and a minimum of one for every 30,000.
To date, we have supported the maximum. If we dropped to the minimum — possibly retiring “hind-tit” deputies in each constituency and those elected without reaching the quota in the last election — we would make a fair start to saving the nation. As most of them have other jobs, no pension would needed, heating and office requirements would be reduced (and with it, carbon emissions), while ancillary staff — many of them family members — could return to gainful employment.
