Child groups target of ludicrous charges

YOU can tell right-wing religious groups are scraping the bottom of the barrel when they have to resort to praising themselves in letters to the Irish Examiner.

Nora Bennis of Mothers at Home writes (January 22) in praise of Maireád Scannell who was at one time an election candidate for the short-lived National Party, a right-wing conservative organisation which was led by Ms Bennis.

Whatever one might think of Barnardos or One in Four, the allegations that Ms Bennis makes against both groups are ludicrous and worthy of derision.
