WHY is it that Béal na mBláth is so poorly signposted?

Visiting this important historical site, where Michael Collins was fatally wounded in an ambush during the Civil War, my parents and I, travelling by car, got lost several times last week.

Subsequently, on the Cork-Killarney road there were two barely visible signs pointing the way near Macroom.

Is Cork embarrassed by what happened here?

Béal na mBláth is for some Ireland’s Texas Book Depository and, as such, it needs much better signposting.
