Reverse advert ban

I AGREE with your editorial (December 6) that the decision by the Broadcasting Commission of Ireland (BCI) to ban a Christmas radio advert by Catholic booksellers Veritas is “utterly, mind-numbingly stupid”.

Reverse advert ban

Our 2,000-year-old Christian civilisation developed the live-and-let-live ethos of the political and legal institutions which define how we all relate to one another on a day-to-day basis.

All of this we celebrate at Christmas time.

As you say in your editorial, the ruling is an “affront to the ethos of an inclusive, confident and strong Republic”.

And as you rightly demand, it must be reversed.
