Columnist should take official route to the game

I AM amazed and disgusted that your columnist Ivan Yates, a former government minister, engages in transactions with ticket touts (November 27).

Reading his column it is apparent he is a regular customer of these individuals who do nothing to promote any of the sports outside of whose stadia they conduct their ‘business’.

Mr Yates would far better serve the sporting community if he joined his local rugby, GAA or soccer club, paid his subscription and applied for tickets in the same way as any other club member.

I am sure his application would receive favourable consideration in any club of which he was a member instead of feeding the greed of the ticket touts.
