AS someone who has been sentenced to a life of paralysis, let me say that I support UCC’s decision to vote in favour of embryonic stem cell research.

The university’s decision is a vote for patients, a vote for finding cures, a vote for producing therapies that will end the pain, suffering and premature death caused by many illnesses and conditions.

And whether one has a spinal cord injury, heart disease, diabetes, Parkinson’s or Alzheimer’s disease, MS, cancer or any other debilitating and life-threatening condition, there is no doubt within the scientific community that embryonic stem cell research can provide the knowledge and means to bring cures.
