Monument to fraud

OUR Government requires that all businesses it deals with be tax compliant. Last week, for the 14th year in succession, the European Court of Auditors refused to pass the EU’s own accounts.

I believe the reason is the same as always — more than half of the transactions examined by the auditors revealed evidence of fraud.

To make matters worse, the EU accounting system (if we may call it a system) uses no recognised accounting method, not even the simplest double entry method.

Perhaps Taoiseach Brian Cowen can explain why are we still supporting this monument to ineptitude and hookery?
