Let’s force them to climb down once again

ON Saturday next, teachers, parents, pupils and supporters of school communities will march in Cork city in a bid to halt the Government’s plans to increase class sizes.

Following the over-70s’ medical card debacle, ministers were forced to climb down and find another way to save money.

It was a similar cause and consequence with the 1% income levy across the board.

Simply put, Education Minister Batt O’Keeffe and his colleagues must reverse this decision — they found other ways when they had to, and they can do the same again.

The Government can prove to us all that schools are not just another brick in the wall, so let the call go out from Cork: “Hey, minister, leave those kids alone.”
