Transparent error in college chapel proposal
Even in a campus with a great many architectural gems, the Honan Chapel is outstanding. Is the whole unity and beauty of the building to be ruined (and I mean ruined) because these people met a good double-glazing salesman.
In an historic building of this calibre using any type of material other than the original would be totally unacceptable. Carrying this sort of thing to its logical conclusion, I have a few other suggestions for them. Never mind driving a motorway past Tara, go through the hill itself and then slice through Newgrange, too.
Continue by levelling the Rock of Cashel for a building site and knock down one (only) of the west spires of St Finbarre’s Cathedral in Cork.
