Horses or humans — a question of priorities

I AGREE totally with Ken Walsh (Letters, November 10). It seems we are now shamefully putting horses and greyhounds before the future health of all 12-year-old girls in this country.

Horses or humans — a question of priorities

Has Health Minister Mary Harney not heard the old saying that “an ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure.”

I wonder if we sold off our evoting machines to the people who eventually ended up with our four helicopters, would we be able to go ahead with the cervical vaccination programme? We would also be saving the €850,000 a year it costs to keep these machines in storage. If you divide the storage costs into the vaccination costs, it would be paid for in 11.8 years at no extra cost to the already-overburdened taxpayer.
