Light bulbs are safe, cheap and versatile. Why ban such a bright idea?

NEXT Friday is the last official day for protests against the proposal to ban light bulbs next March.

This is an unprecedented ban on a product because it is not for safety concerns with the product itself (as there are with a fluorescent ‘energy-saving’ light).

Indeed light bulbs have a long record of safety. They are also cheap, versatile, easy to use with other equipment, respond quickly in the cold and come in many sizes.
