Ferry should be compelled to sail under Irish flag

I’M pleased that good progress is apparently being made towards a renewed ferry service on the Cork/Swansea route.

While it is not yet certain that we will actually have a resumed service, many local business interests, individuals and politicians are to be congratulated for their hard work and commitment so far.

If the campaign is a success, the one thing that must be avoided is a repeat of the substandard pay and conditions that previously existed for crew of the vessel providing the service.
