Wage-earner must pay

I HAVE been bemused by the stupidity of our governing classes for some time. The were warned repeatedly that the construction boom couldn’t last. They and their allies in the banking world chose to ignore the warnings.

Now they want the rest of us to bail them out. Are those who caused the mess being made to pay? Of course not. Instead the wage-earner is being bilked of 1%. Not much when you have plenty but serious when you have virtually nothing.

Then they tried to deny one of their few comforts to the over-70s who paid tax in one form or another all their lives. To add insult to injury, by the time the exceptions and the changes and the costs of administration are taken into account, my guess is that there will be no saving or revenue increase worth noting. Vote them out fast. The old problem was who would do things better? Now it’s who could possibly do worse? No one, in my opinion.
