I WENT to my bank before 3pm on Friday to lodge one sterling and several euro cheques.

I was told it would take a fortnight to clear the sterling cheque (it used to be five working days) and five days to clear the euro cheques (I thought this was supposed to be done in 24 hours).

I wonder did the financial regulator approve the extensions to these periods?
