Health accountability - It is time we were all outraged

WE have learnt how powerless we are when international financiers loot and pillage like privateers rather than bankers worthy of trust or respect.

Of course, none of this carnage might have come to pass had there been proper regulation and regulators with the power and gumption — and, in fairness, the political support — needed to protect society from the excesses of do-or-die, conscience-free capitalism.

We may be nigh powerless when rescue packages in the hundreds of billions are needed to revitalise that corrupted corpse but that does not mean we are powerless to confront unacceptable performances in other areas.
