What’s the real story?

RYANAIR’S recent announcement that it will drop two routes from Cork because Cork Airport Authority is requiring the payment of 20% landing charges instead of zero is rather puzzling.

What’s the real story?

Last time I checked, Ryanair (along with most other airlines) was in the habit of adding these ‘taxes and charges’ to the total fare.

Since the charges, whatever they are, are passed on to the passengers, surely the rate is irrelevant to Ryanair? Michael O’Leary should come clean on the real reason for removing the routes rather than engaging in specious arguments about airport charges.
