I wish to put into context the real story behind the scandalous headlines that have been so offensive to Olympic showjumper Denis Lynch and to his highly respected, honest and totally unassuming parents and family.

From a very early age, Denis Lynch, who was reared in Tipperary Town, showed a love for horses.

When he was 18, he went to Germany where he found work in a stables and honed his skills as a rider.
