EU citizens must be told all about the end-game

IN his letter headlined ‘Above our weight’ (August 18), Anthony Levy

EU citizens must be told all about the end-game

My assertion is that most Europeans, while happy to share substantial areas of sovereignty, do not wish to become part of a European superstate.

Many fear this may happen by stealth and I believe this fear was a significant factor in the rejection of the Lisbon Treaty by ourselves and the proposed EU constitution by the French and the Dutch. People need to know what the end-game is. It is now incumbent on

European leaders clearly to state their plans for European integration and let all the peoples of Europe decide by

direct vote. Like any journey, it’s better to know your final destination.
