SHOCKED by your report headlined ‘Fears over Mormon baptisms of dead Catholics’ (August 22), I turned, as I tend to do in times of need, to the Divine Marquis, Louis Sade (his appellation of preference during the end of the French Revolution).

He said it best when he proclaimed that “the invention of god is the one thing for which I can never forgive humanity”.

This island has been troubled by religious intolerance and sectarianism since it was partitioned by the British. Why, oh why, is the Catholic Church picking a fight with the Mormons?
