WHEN work started on the junction between the Douglas shopping centres in Cork I thought an already terrible situation was going to get worse. I was proved wrong and am delighted to admit it. I think the new layout may work well.

The traffic flow, in the meantime, has become much better and I think a big ‘thank you’ is owed to the people in the orange jackets who seem always to be there and whose intelligent traffic control has kept the flow moving at all times.

I used to dread passing through Douglas. Now I do it without a qualm.
