Punishment must fit the antisocial crime

FINALLY action is being taken to curb antisocial behaviour in Irish society.

There has been an obvious failure in the past regarding government policy on antisocial behaviour, and this is all too clear when looking at the previous bill on antisocial behaviour.

I think it is appalling that it is only now this badly needed and long overdue change is being established in legislation.

While this new bill does mark a change in tackling the problem of antisocial behaviour, more gardaí are needed to enforce the new legislation and harsher sentencing must be implemented to make sure the punishment fits the crime.
