17 of 18 ring-tone sites are ‘suspect’

TEENS and kids are being ripped off by ring-tone scams according to a EU-wide survey.

But those responsible could soon find themselves on a name-and-shame list in Ireland and other member states or even have their websites closed down.

In Ireland, 17 of the 18 sites surveyed offering ring-tones, wallpaper, news updates and other services for mobile phones were found to be suspect, and will be investigated further by the National Consumer Agency.
