Role model to set against political cynics

PLAIN decency combined with tenacity in pursuit of a cause made the late Seamus Brennan a politician to hold out as a model against the frequently cynical and disparaging view of his calling.

His enthusiasm for politics and campaigning resulted in, among other things, the formation of Ógra Fianna Fáil in 1975 and a reorganisation of the party structure that held us together through good and bad times.

Having lived in Churchtown during my time in Dublin, I was only too well aware of the esteem in which he was held by his supporters and constituents.
