EU missing child alert system fails to get green light

AN EU-wide missing child alert system will not be established because member states do not have such a process in place.

European justice ministers failed to agree on setting up an operation to alert all relevant authorities if a child went missing in suspicious circumstances.

Instead the European Commission said it will issue guidelines that they hope countries will follow when setting up their own systems to ensure that they can work together.
