We want more cooperation — not a superstate

WE ARE three MEPs from different Swedish political parties who hope for a no vote in your referendum. We believe this would be good not only for Ireland, but also for millions of other Europeans. An Irish no would be a democratic call for a better type of European cooperation than what is now being proposed.

The Lisbon Treaty would centralise even more power at European level, while national democracies would be further undermined. This signifies a vital step in the transformation of the EU into a federal state.

We want genuine cooperation between democracies — not the construction of a superstate with insufficient democratic control.
