Business community backs the benefits

OVER the past few weeks, considerable media coverage has been provided to a small number of “high profile” business people who are calling for a no vote on the Lisbon Treaty.

Business community backs the benefits

They are calling for a no vote on issues that are either irrelevant to the treaty (corporation tax) or on issues on which they are not giving the full story (Ireland’s voting strength under the treaty).

The entire Irish business community is calling for a yes vote through the Business Alliance for Europe, which represents 37 of Ireland’s leading business and professional organisations, including the Irish Business and Employers’ Confederation (IBEC), Construction Industry Federation (CIF) and Irish Banking Federation (see www.yestolisbon.ie for full list of members). These organisations are responsible for 250,000 businesses and nearly two million jobs.
