IN your edition of May 16 there was a story about the disastrous earthquake in China with a photo of a grieving mother reaching for her dead child.

This was a deeply moving picture showing the grief of many Chinese at this time.

In the analysis page of the same issue there was an article on China’s one-child policy with a picture of a dead boy being clothed by his grieving parents.
