The Lisbon treaty - A month to make sure of a yes vote

IF TAOISEACH Brian Cowen enjoyed the warm and boisterous welcome he was given in Offaly on Saturday — and why wouldn’t he — then that enjoyment will have been enhanced by yesterday’s opinion poll that showed a small but significant increase in the number of people who intended to vote for the Lisbon treaty.

In just two weeks the gap between the supporters and the opponents of the treaty jumped by six points.

A fortnight ago the Sunday Business Post/Red C poll recorded that the yes vote stood at 35%, while 31% indicated they intended to vote against the treaty.
