HSE redirects funds - Where did the money go?

TODAY’S opportunity to be outraged by the Health Service Executive is provided by the redirection of money allocated under the Government’s mental health programme.

Though the Government has decided to provide funds under Vision for Change, they are to be withheld until it is established why half of a previous allocation was spent elsewhere.

Fine Gael’s Dan Neville has established that €51m had been allocated to the HSE for 2007 and 2008 to implement parts of the plan but about €24m had been used to cover deficits elsewhere.
