Vote no to absentee rule from Brussels

I TAKE issue with Gay Mitchell’s insinuation that Libertas funding is from outside the EU (Letters, April 1).

Is he not aware of the 1997 Electoral Act under which funding cannot be accepted from individuals who reside outside Ireland, unless they are Irish citizens?

He offers no evidence of the “powerful interests” outside the EU which he conjures up. For these and other dark forces, I suggest he look closer to home, within the EU.
