Disgraceful schools - Promises that mean nothing

LIKE hundreds of communities around the country Glenville, in Cork, was promised a new national school a decade ago.

Like hundreds of communities around the country the people of Glenville must watch each and every day as the idea of education — the teachers, the parents, and most of all, our children — are demeaned every day they attend school in an appalling building not fit for purpose. The people of Glenville were given a personal pledge from the minister that building work would begin within two years.
