CHILD obesity is a problem in France where I have been living for the past 10 years. However, the statistics are not as bad as in Ireland (March 1).

The French have an advantage over most countries because of their attitude towards food. While they are no strangers to fast-food restaurants, when they do go, it is at meal times and not for snacks.

The French government promotes a healthy lifestyle and children’s TV programmes carry messages advising them not to eat between meals.
