Integration of migrants - All taxpayers earn the right to vote

Integration Minister Conor Lenihan suggested that EU migrant workers who have lived in this country for a certain number of years should be given the right to vote in general elections.

This, he contends, could change the political landscape.

Our current immigrant population may be as high as 12% and there is a compelling case to be made that they should be allowed to vote in the next general election. They are already entitled to vote in local elections.
